Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University announced today (Sunday) the adoption of the enhanced Blackboard Ultra learning management system, in conjunction with the start of the second semester of the 1447 AH academic year. This step comes as part of the University’s strategic direction to advance its e‑learning ecosystem and enhance the quality of digital teaching practices in alignment with the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 related to digital transformation and the development of a sustainable knowledge‑based economy.
Prof. Mishari bin Ayad Al‑Osaimi, Vice President for Educational and Academic Affairs, explained that the adoption of the system is part of a comprehensive institutional project aimed at elevating the teaching and learning experience. He emphasized that the upgraded digital environment will offer greater flexibility and efficiency to meet the needs of students and faculty members, noting that this transition represents a significant organizational and educational shift that ensures the continuity of the learning process in line with international best practices.
Al‑Osaimi added that the project included the completion of course migration plans, the preparation of academic and technical staff, and the delivery of training and guidance programs to ensure optimal utilization of the system’s capabilities. He also highlighted the alignment of academic systems with the directions of the Ministry of Education and the efforts of the National eLearning Center.
For its part, the Deanship of Educational Services—represented by the E‑Learning Agency—stated that the transition involved the preparation of user guides and support channels to assist beneficiaries. The Deanship noted that Blackboard Ultra features a modern user interface, advanced instructional tools, flexible content management, full compatibility with smart devices, and powerful analytical capabilities that support academic monitoring and data‑driven decision‑making.
This adoption reflects the University’s strategic commitment to investing in human capital, strengthening its position as a leading academic institution embracing digital transformation, and contributing effectively to the development of the higher education sector in the Kingdom.
