Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University President, His Excellency Prof. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al‑Tamim, presided today, Tuesday, over the closing ceremony of the “Data Forum,” organized by the General Administration of Information Technology over the past three days. The forum aimed to highlight the role of data in enhancing the university environment and promoting a culture of data‑driven decision‑making. The ceremony, held at the main auditorium on the Al‑Kharj campus, was attended by the University’s vice presidents, college deans, and faculty and staff members.
The ceremony featured a visual presentation showcasing the University’s data journey—from collection and governance to its utilization in decision‑making. Another presentation highlighted the forum’s activities, the participants’ experiences, and the knowledge and technical value the event delivered.
During the event, His Excellency launched the “Daem” platform, developed by the General Administration of Information Technology. The platform serves as a reliable data‑analytics tool that provides interactive dashboards to support informed decision‑making, improve performance efficiency, enhance output quality, and strengthen data‑driven institutional practices. His Excellency also inaugurated the “Innovation Hackathon,” designed to foster creative thinking and transform ideas into practical prototypes, in addition to launching the “Creating Value from Data” competition, enabling staff members to propose use cases that convert data into tangible value across two tracks: revenue generation, and cost reduction and operational efficiency.
In his speech, the University’s Vice President, Prof. Hamad bin Nasser Al‑Turaiki, emphasized that the forum comes at a pivotal time in recognizing data as a strategic asset aligned with Saudi Vision 2030. He expressed the University’s pride in launching these distinguished initiatives that aim to build an academic environment grounded in digital innovation, and he extended his appreciation to all those who contributed to the forum’s success.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Excellency the President honored the participants and organizing committees in recognition of their efforts in making this distinguished technological event a success.
