In the field of advanced surgery, the Hospital marked another significant milestone by successfully performing its first laparoscopic cholecystectomy (gallbladder removal). The procedure was carried out by Dr. Emad Al-Juhani, Consultant in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, Bariatric Surgery, and General Surgery, using the latest minimally invasive laparoscopic techniques. The procedure contributed to minimizing postoperative pain, shortening patient recovery time, and reducing hospital stays, reinforcing the Hospital's strategic direction toward expanding day surgery services and strengthening its capacity to manage specialized surgical cases with the highest standards of care.
As part of its commitment to advancing precision medicine, a multidisciplinary medical team from the College of Medicine and the University Hospital successfully performed Al Kharj's first specialized therapeutic intervention for sacroiliac joint pain using fluoroscopy-guided injection technology. The procedure was led by Dr. Abdulrahman Ali Kharmi, Associate Professor and Consultant Rheumatologist, together with Dr. Ahmed Abu Donia, Assistant Professor and Consultant in Anesthesiology and Pain Management. This advanced imaging-guided technique enabled highly accurate and safe joint injection under real-time fluoroscopic guidance, providing the patient with an effective, minimally invasive treatment option that relieves pain, improves mobility, and eliminates the need for conventional surgical intervention.
