Under the Directive of the Governor of Al-Kharj, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University Holds a Workshop to Study the “Issue of Unlicensed Taxi Vehicles”

In compliance with the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Fahd bin Mohammed bin Saad bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Al-Kharj, Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University held today, Wednesday, a specialized workshop to study the “Issue of Unlicensed Taxi Vehicles,” with the participation of representatives from several administrative and security government agencies, at the university campus in Al-Kharj.
The workshop aimed to identify the primary factors that drive individuals to engage in unlicensed transportation—whether economic, regulatory, or personal—while also examining how these factors influence their decision to continue such activities. It further sought to explore potential solutions to address the issue and its societal impact.
The workshop covered three main themes. The first theme reviewed the current state of the issue, while the second included a panel discussion to examine solutions and available enablers among participating entities, explore opportunities for integration and coordination across the governorate, and discuss the key challenges associated with the phenomenon and approaches to addressing them. The third and final theme focused on formulating proposed solutions and concluding recommendations.
The event featured active participation from relevant government bodies, including: Al-Kharj Governorate, the Police Department, the Special Tasks and Duties Force, the General Directorate of Traffic, Security Patrols, the Transport General Authority, the Social Development Bank, the Human Resources Development Fund (Hadaf), and Al-Kharj Municipality.
This initiative comes in response to the directives of His Royal Highness the Governor of Al-Kharj, reinforcing the university’s role in supporting competent authorities in assessing the current situation and making informed decisions to address this issue. The effort aims to enhance coordination among state institutions and ensure the provision of a safe and well-regulated transportation environment that aligns with the applicable regulations and legislation in the Kingdom.
