Prince Sattam bin Abdulaziz University is preparing to host a series of national and educational activities across its facilities and grounds this week, coinciding with the Kingdom’s celebration of Saudi National Day 96 under the theme “Our Pride Lies in Our Nature.” The University’s program brings together expressions of national belonging through a range of activities extending from the campus to public spaces across Al-Kharj Governorate.
As part of the national celebration, the University will hold a formal ceremony on Sunday, September 27, under the patronage and in the presence of University President Prof. Abdullah Al-Tamim. The event will recall the historic efforts to unify the Kingdom under the leadership of its founder, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may he rest in peace, as well as the comprehensive development the country has witnessed.
On the intellectual and educational front, the Intellectual Awareness Unit, in cooperation with the College of Business Administration, will organize a session tomorrow, Monday, September 21, titled “Awareness of Institutional Identity and Its Role in Strengthening National Values and Responsibility.” The session will coincide with the launch of a national intellectual competition organized by the Unit to strengthen students’ awareness of the Kingdom’s history and national achievements.
As part of its efforts to enrich literary and cultural activities, the Public Relations and Corporate Identity Department will hold the second session of the “Sattam Cultural Forum” tomorrow, Monday, September 21, at the University’s campus in Al-Kharj. Titled “The Nation in the Memory of Poets and Writers,” the session will feature Dr. Khalaf Al-Thubaiti, Associate Professor of Literature and Criticism and a researcher in intangible cultural heritage.
The session will explore the presence of the nation in literary texts and the role of poetry in documenting national transformations. It will also examine poetry as a living record of national memory and highlight the importance of preserving intangible cultural heritage and the responsibility of researchers to collect and document it.
A national exhibition will also be held in the University’s main lobby on Sunday, September 27, welcoming visitors and showcasing aspects of the Kingdom’s historical heritage and development. At the same time, the University’s official social media platforms will offer an interactive space to capture students’ feelings and document their pride in this national occasion.
On campus, the University will be decorated in green this week, with flags and national banners of various sizes displayed across its grounds as an expression of national celebration.
Outside the campus, the University will join the residents of Al-Kharj Governorate in celebrating the occasion during public festivities taking place over two days, Wednesday and Thursday, September 23 and 24, at Prince Abdulrahman bin Nasser Park. The celebrations are supervised by Al-Kharj Governorate and organized by the Riyadh Municipality, represented by Al-Kharj Municipality, with the participation and attendance of various government entities and nonprofit organizations.
The University’s pavilion at the celebrations will provide the local community with an opportunity to explore the work of the laboratories at the Research and Development Center. Students will showcase a range of innovations and prototypes across various scientific disciplines, introducing applied research outputs and emerging technologies. The pavilion will also highlight the University’s role in turning ideas into projects that contribute to supporting national industries and the knowledge economy, in line with the objectives of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.
On the media front, the electronic newspaper Jameati will deploy its editorial and technical teams to cover the national events and activities through continuous on-site presence and dedicated journalistic coverage, documenting the occasions through reports and visual materials at various locations.
This integrated national celebration reflects the University’s commitment to demonstrating the role of academic institutions in strengthening national and community engagement and coordinating their efforts with various sectors to reinforce national belonging on this special occasion.
