PSAU, represented by the Public Relations and Corporate Identity Department, is organizing the second session of the “Sattam Cultural Forum” titled “The Nation in the Memory of Poets and Writers” as part of the University’s celebration of Saudi National Day 96.
The session will host Dr. Khalaf bin Saad Al-Thubaiti, Associate Professor of Literature and Criticism in the Department of Arabic Language and Literature at the University, as well as a poet and researcher in intangible cultural heritage. He will discuss the presence of the nation in poetry and literature and the role of poetry in documenting events and transformations and preserving national memory.
The session will address several topics, including poetry as a record of national memory and the values it has instilled in the public consciousness, such as unity, security, sacrifice, and belonging. It will also explore how the cities and governorates within the University’s area of operation have been represented in stories, poems, and oral heritage, along with ways to present the history of these places to younger generations in an engaging manner.
Dr. Al-Thubaiti will also discuss the importance of intangible cultural heritage in preserving the history of society and the responsibility of researchers, intellectuals, and community members to collect and document it. In addition, he will share his experience in poetry, research, and history, and recite selected examples of his national poems.
The recurring session reaffirms the University’s role in strengthening national belonging, preserving cultural memory, and fostering knowledge-based communication with the community.
